Rooftop Exhaust Ventilation & Localised Cooling Upgrade for Industrial Factory

Powered rooftop exhaust fans installed on a factory roof for mechanical hot air extraction.

The Challenge: High-Level Heat Accumulation and Cooling Below the Mezzanine

After CrystalAir completed an exhaust ventilation upgrade for the neighbouring factory, we were subsequently recommended to this factory for a similar ventilation requirement.

The building has a large industrial floor area with a high roof and mezzanine structure. Hot air can accumulate toward the upper roof area, while the workspace beneath the mezzanine experiences a different condition due to the lower ceiling height and limited direct airflow.

The client required a practical solution that could support high-level hot air extraction from the factory while also providing direct cooling for workers operating beneath the mezzanine floor.

You can see our previous metal fabrication factory exhaust ventilation upgrade, which led to this referral project.

The Solution: Rooftop Exhaust Fans and Portable Air Coolers

CrystalAir supplied and installed 6 units of EXR-450 powered rooftop exhaust fans across the factory roof.

The rooftop exhaust fans were positioned to actively extract hot and stagnant air that rises and accumulates at the upper section of the building.

For the workspace beneath the mezzanine floor, 2 units of CrystalAir PC-150 portable evaporative air coolers were provided to supply direct airflow and localised cooling to the occupied working area.

By combining rooftop mechanical extraction with portable air cooling, the project addresses two different airflow conditions within the same factory.

Key Design Features of this Project:

  • High-Level Hot Air Extraction: 6 units of CrystalAir EXR-450 rooftop exhaust fans were installed to mechanically remove accumulated hot air from the upper factory and roof area.

  • Localised Cooling Below the Mezzanine: 2 units of PC-150 portable air coolers were positioned beneath the mezzanine floor to provide direct airflow and cooling within the occupied workspace.

  • Different Solutions for Different Zones: Rooftop exhaust fans handle high-level air extraction, while portable air coolers provide cooling where workers are located beneath the mezzanine.

  • Powered Mechanical Ventilation: The rooftop fans provide active air extraction instead of relying solely on passive roof ventilation.

  • Client Referral Project: This project was awarded following a recommendation from our previous customer at the neighbouring factory.

The Result: High-Level Ventilation with Localised Mezzanine Cooling

CrystalAir completed the installation of 6 units of EXR-450 rooftop exhaust fans for high-level factory air extraction, together with 2 units of PC-150 portable air coolers for the workspace beneath the mezzanine floor.

Although no before-and-after temperature or airflow readings were recorded for this project, the equipment was arranged according to the different airflow conditions within the factory.

The rooftop exhaust fans support removal of hot air from the upper roof area, while the portable air coolers provide direct airflow to the lower occupied zone beneath the mezzanine.

This combination provides a practical factory ventilation and cooling setup without expecting one type of equipment to address every area of the building.

Need a Factory Exhaust Ventilation System?

Every factory has a different roof height, mezzanine arrangement, production layout and working condition. A suitable system should consider both where hot air accumulates and where workers actually require cooling.

CrystalAir can help evaluate your factory and propose suitable solutions including rooftop exhaust fans, wall-mounted exhaust fans, industrial air coolers and portable evaporative cooling.
